Questions to Ask a Cleaning Company

Welcome to TLC Janitorial’s Blog. We’re glad you’re here! We want you to understand how we can best serve your facility cleaning needs. To start off this venture, we thought it made sense to share some questions you should ask when looking to select a cleaning company. These questions will help you prioritize what’s important to you and your company and compare what different cleaning services offer. Hopefully this will help you get started in understanding what is out there for services and exactly what your specific business needs might be. Let’s jump in:

  • Insurance – Make certain that the company you have selected are fully insured and bonded. Make sure their limits are within expectations. Confirm that they have a 3rd Party Crime Policy.
  • References – Ask for references and call them. These first hand contacts can be vital in offering viewpoints you may have not considered.
  • Certifications – Ask for a list of certifications pertaining to the cleaning industry. These help validate the standards that you expect from the industry.
  • Green Certified – Are they a certified firm? Ask what type of cleaning methods, products and equipment they will use to promote a more sustainable environment..
  • Equipment & Supplies – What types of equipment and chemicals do they use? Do they offer a supply program that may offer time/cost savings.
  • Employment – How do they recruit their employees? Do they background check employees? If so, how? Do they subcontract any or all of their work out? Do employees wear uniforms?
  • Insurance – Make certain that the company you have selected are fully insured and bonded. Make sure their limits are within expectations. Confirm that they have a 3rd Party Crime Policy.
  • Services – What other services do you offer that may help our company?
  • Training – Do you offer employees a training program? If yes, explain the process? Do you have a safety training manual?
  • Security – If after hours access is to be granted, ask who will be holding your keys.
  • Other Helpful Questions – Ask them how long they anticipate it will take to clean your office. Ask who the point of contact will be and if you could meet them. Is there a contract term? Will the same employee(s) be cleaning every week? You may have other questions that aren’t listed here. Please feel free to post and share them and also let us know what you think about this list. Here at TLC we understand that it may be daunting to choose from the many choices out there. But we are happy to help and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Contact us today!
